1. Braun Series 7 790CC – Rocking the market since 2010

Braun Series7 790cc review

Our first electric shaver in this series comes all the way from German Tech Industry known as Braun. The Braun series 7 is no doubt the most popular series ever built by this company and the model 790cc is the most sold electric shaver of all time. Undoubtedly, it is still the best electric shaver out there and number 1 in our list. Enough Praise, let’s get into the business now.

The shaver provides amazingly close and smooth shave as compared to others in our lineup. Series 7 790cc is quite different regarding features from other electric shavers. The face of this electric shaver has three trimmers. Two of them are called “OptiFoil” while the one within the other two, is called “ActiveLift.”

The OptiFoil trimmers help the electric shaver to cover more facial hairs in fewer strokes while the ActiveLift contributes to cut out the short and in-grown hairs. 2. Braun Series 9 9095CC – The latest launched electric shaver of Braun

Braun Series 9 9095cc Review

The next one in our list is also from the Braun. It is the latest electric shaver series launched by Braun and our favorite model in this list is Braun 9095CC.

The electric shaver is covered up with all of the shiny chrome plastic, which looks cool!

This electric shaver works in the same way as the above 790cc, the only difference is that 9095cc contains one extra trimmer known as “Direct & Cut”. This additional trimmer helps the shaver to align the hairs which grow in different directions and then cut those out. Other than that, the ActiveLift trimmer from 790cc is replaced by HyperLift Trimmer which is a bit more advanced and helps to remove the flat hairs.

Braun 9095 Pulsonic shaver produce 40,000 cross-cutting actions per minute, please don’t mix it up with the 10,000 micro vibrations of 790cc. It provides a bit more close shave than 790cc, the difference is not that much to amaze. Pop-up trimmer is also there.

The reason why it is listed as number 2 is because it’s made of plastic while the 799cc contains metal head. Other than that, you are going to pay a lot of money for the features you really don’t require if you have a normal beard and you shave on a daily basis. However, this electric shaver is a bit more comfortable on the skin.

Braun series 9 9095cc has all of the features of 790cc and it also has the Wet&Dry technology, which helps the user to use this electric shaver either on dry skin or with shaving gel for sensitive skin.

Here is a quick comparison of Braun Series 7 and Braun Series 9:

Blade Type Foil Foil

Wrapping it up, the Braun series 9 9095 has all of the great features including Wet&Dry technology which was missing in the above 790cc. It contains one extra trimmer which helps to cut down the hairs which grow in multiple directions. On the other hand, the downside of this shaver is that it is all plastic and very expensive.

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • Addition of an extra trimmer called “Direct & Cut”
  • Close shaving experience
  • 40,000 Crosscutting actions
  • Presence of Wet&Dry Technology
Cons
  • Poor built quality (All Plastic)
  • Very expensive (More than double of 790cc)

3. Panasonic ES-LV95 – Best Electric Shaver in Terms of Features and Value

panasonic es-lv95 review

When it comes to electric shavers, Panasonic has made a name for itself by providing some of the finest electric shavers available in the market. Albeit some might consider them to be somewhat on the expensive side, they make it up for the price by offering great performance, and value for money. Previously, the ES-LV81 was among our favorite electric shavers available in the market, however, the much better, upgraded model called the ES-LV95 has dethroned it.

The ES-LV95 by Panasonic is made for people who prefer an extremely clean, and close shave. I know many claim that the manually done shaving is much better, but this electric shaver is here to change the game. Upon shaving, I figured out that the shaving came out very natural, and extremely close, making up for a skin that was smooth to the touch, and even all around. Not to mention, shaving with this shaver is super-fast, resulting in a lot of time saved.

The LV95 also comes with a built-in screen that might seem like a gimmick to some, but it is actually a very useful addition; not only it displays an accurate representation of the battery that is left, but it also tells you how long you have been shaving when you turn off the shaver.

Considering how this is Panasonic’s flagship electric shaver, it does come with a cleaning station for those who love them. The cleaning station is used to remove all the hair after you have shaved and clean the blades at the push of a button, it is super simple, and super easy as well. However, for those who are not looking to put the shaver back in the cleaning station, a protective cover is also provided, and in addition to that, you also get a leather traveling pouch.

With all the good things aside, I do have a few minor gripes with the otherwise excellent Panasonic ES-LV95. For starters, the shaver can be loud at times, and the perfect way to explain this would be to compare the sound with the same sound that is made by a swarm of bees.

In addition to that, for people who have sensitive skin, the shaver might be a bit too harsh in the beginning. However, do not worry, because the skin will adjust to the shaver on multiple uses, and it will not be an issue.

Overall, the Panasonic ES-LV95 is a wonderful electric shaver that does come with a price, but offers many amenities that end up making up for the price. It has no major, deal breaking flaws, making it one of the best electric shavers in the market.

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • Shaving with ES-LV95 is simple, easy, and fast.
  • The display is excellent and gives all the needed information.
  • The cleaning station is a great addition.
Cons
  • Sensitive skin might feel the harshness in the beginning.
  • The operational noise can be a nuisance in the beginning.

4. Philips Norelco SensoTouch 3D – Best Rotary Shaver for Head and Beard

Philips Norelco Sensotouch 3d review

Philips is the master when it comes to Rotary shavers. No other brand can beat Philips in this technology. Number 4 on our list is going to be the rotary shaver Philips Norelco Sensotouch 3D, which is good for both beard and head.

We found this to be the most comfortable rotary shaver and it really sticks with your skin and move smoothly around your face contours and provide efficiently close shave.

The shaver got 3 independent round foils in the head which sticks and moves around the contours of your face. The pivoting head of the shaver helps to reach all of the hairs and stubbles. The foils can spin, tilt and can move upward and downward which is a great feature to help you out in shaving your head. That’s why this is the best electric shaver for Bald guys. The head of this shaver is called “GyroFlex 3D” because it can move into 3 dimensions which are a unique feature.

There are other amazing features available in this electric shaver is called “Super Lift&Cut”, which is similar to ActiveLift in Braun and Lift-Tech in Panasonic. It helps to catch the hairs on neck and jawline. It also helps the shaver to catch in-grown hairs, stubbles, and flat hairs.

Now let’s come to the downsides of this shaver. The shaver feels premium from looks but when you get your hands on it, it feels really cheap. Shame it is all plastic and rubber. The battery is fixed, so if somehow your battery goes out of the order, you will have no choice but to replace your electric shaver.

Overall, the SensoTouch 3D is an advanced and great rotary shaver which have all of the latest features you can get from a shaver. It is fast and powerful and provides comfortable and close shave. There are few downsides but it made it the number 4 in our list.

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • Three Independent Foils
  • The head of this shaver can move into 3 dimensions, which is good for shaving head
  • Extremely comfortable and close shaving provider
  • Wet&Dry technology available
Cons
  • Poor Built quality (All plastic and Rubber)
  • Expensive Replacement Parts (Serious Issue)
  • Fixed battery (You can’t replace it)
  • Only chargeable through the dock (You can’t charge it using cord)

5. Panasonic Arc 4 – Budget friendly and Close shaving provider

Panasonic Arc 4 Review

Panasonic yet again, with a marvelous model Arc 4. It is almost same as the Panasonic arc but it contains 4 blades in the head and doesn’t come with charging dock.

Just like Arc 5, this model will also provide you an extremely close shave but at the same time, it lacks on comfortability.

Panasonic Arc 4 possess all of the features from the latest Arc 5, it is just missing a single trimmer from its head, and it comes without Cleaning and Charging dock. The 4 blade system available in this electric shaver is advanced and sharp enough to provide you the closest shaving experience. The blades are extremely durable, sharp and they can pivot at 30 degrees in any direction. It also contains the linear 14,000 CPM dual action motor which is really powerful.

Other than that, it provides 40 minutes of battery life on a single charge while the others provide 50 minutes of battery backup.

Other then that there is nothing much to write about it as I have already explained all of the features above in Panasonic Arc 5.

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • Extremely low in price as compared to other high tech shavers in our list
  • LED Panel available to keep you updated with the battery and motor speed
Cons
  • Not that much comfortable
  • It comes without cleaning and charging dock (Thats the reason it is available in very low price)

Consumer tech and its importance

Fitness company Peloton is the latest startup to pedal towards the public markets as it publicly filed its registration statement on Tuesday. The New York-based company posted $915 million in revenue for its 2019 fiscal year (July 2018 to June 2019), but also rising losses as it spent more on advertising to acquire users. It lost $195.6 million, up from $47.9 million from the previous year.

Started in 2012, Peloton became a cult fitness hit due to its combination of live-streamed classes and an on-demand library of workouts. The company started out originally with a connected bike, but has since expanded into a treadmill and now offers classes like stretching and yoga to its subscribers. The company counts more than 511,000 subscribers who do on average 11.5 workouts per month, up from 8.4 the year prior.

Most of Peloton’s revenue comes from a combination of sales of its connected bike and treadmill products, along with its $39 a month fitness subscription. Its high price-tag ($2,245 for a bike or $4,295 for a treadmill) helped make up the bulk of Peloton’s revenue: $719 million from sales of physical devices for its fiscal year 2019.

What is science?

With global trade tensions showing no signs of abating, Singapore’s economy has flatlined. A recent government forecast projects virtually no growth for the island-nation in 2019, citing potential risks such as a deepening slowdown in China, uncertainties in Hong Kong and further afield, the fallout from a no-deal Brexit. Despite these looming headwinds and a stock market that declined 3.5% since July 2018, the collective wealth of the top 50 richest was up more than 12% to $130 billion.

Billionaire Backs U.K. Startup Trying To Extend Human Life Spans

Atlassian’s Mike Cannon-Brookes invested in the startup via his investment company, Grok Ventures.

Mike Cannon-Brookes, the billionaire cofounder of Australian software giant Atlassian, has invested $10 million in Juvenescence, a U.K. firm that’s trying to increase human longevity.

The average human life span is around 72 years, and billionaires are investing heavily in a handful of life science startups that hope to help people live longer.

Cannon-Brookes, who owns the most expensive house in Australia, participated in a $100 million series B funding round that was announced on Monday. The Sydney resident made the investment through his investment company, Grok Ventures.

Michael Spencer, former CEO of brokerage ICAP and one of the wealthiest men in Britain, also invested $10 million through his personal investment firm IPGL.

The founders also put in $10 million, and total investment in Juvenescence stands at around $165 million.

Juvenescence isn’t working on a single moon-shot project but aims to build a “longevity ecosystem,” or a portfolio of interlinked companies working on therapies and treatments that could enable people to live longer, healthier lives.

“We actively look for scientific founders probing exciting areas of aging biology, and work with leading research institutions to create joint ventures combining their IP and our resources,” the company writes on its website.

Juvenescence employs around 20 scientists, drug developers, AI specialists, and financial experts to coordinate the efforts of its portfolio, which is working on novel treatments for cancer, diabetes, neurodegenerative disorders and heart disease.

So far, Juvenescence has invested in 15 companies, including California-based AgeX Therapeutics and Fox Bio, which are both working on therapies that can improve old human tissue.

Cannon-Brookes is the latest tech billionaire to invest in longevity-focused startups. Oracle founder Larry Ellison has donated millions to research via his medical foundation, Jeff Bezos has reportedly invested in Unity Biotechnology, while Alphabet owns Calico, which has a staff of around 150 working to understand the biology that controls lifespans.

“We have recruited a group of sophisticated shareholders from around the world to further our common mission of improving human healthy lifespan,” Jim Mellon, chair of Juvenescence, said in a statement.

“Juvenescence has now raised more money than any comparable company, which is testament to the depth of our team and the range of opportunities that we have assembled, in partnership with scientist/entrepreneurs and research institutions. As the science of longevity becomes mainstream, we expect significant investor interest, and at some point, we anticipate taking Juvenescence public to further accelerate our development.”

Juvenescence raised the money at a valuation of $500 million, and it’s planning to IPO in New York next year, according to the Financial Times.

PS4, Xbox One And Nintendo Switch Are Safe From Trump’s Tariffs…For Now

Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft likely breathed a sigh of collective relief this morning alongside the broader market. The Trump Administration today announced new exemptions from a list of Chinese-manufactured items scheduled to receive a 10% import tax, delaying tariffs on those items until December 15. That list includes a number of gaming-related categories, including video game consoles like the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

“Certain products are being removed from the tariff list based on health, safety, national security and other factors and will not face additional tariffs of 10 percent.”

“Further, as part of USTR’s public comment and hearing process, it was determined that the tariff should be delayed to December 15 for certain articles.  Products in this group include, for example, cell phones, laptop computers, video game consoles, certain toys, computer monitors, and certain items of footwear and clothing.”

While I’m not entirely sure what the national security, health or safety rationale is when it comes to video game consoles, a quick look at this list shows a range of items that are vital for the US consumer economy, predominantly manufactured in China and for which it would be monumentally difficult to move production. Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo sent a letter to the Trump administration in June warning them about the potential impacts of tariffs on the US video game industry:

Economically, the video game industry contributes substantially to the U.S. economy, and its year-on-year growth is impressive. The U.S. video game industry generated total revenue of $36 billion in 20172 and $43.4 billion in 2018,3 reflecting over 20% in growth. This industry directly and indirectly employs more than 220,000 people. Ninety-nine point seven percent (99.7%) of video game companies qualify as small businesses and can be found in each of the fifty states; many develop software for video games across the range of platforms, from PCs to mobile, including the video game consoles that we manufacture, and are an integral part of the booming app economy.

Aramco’s net income for H1 2019 was $46.9 billion. This is actually a 12% decrease from its net income for the first half of 2018, but was expected because the price of the Brent oil benchmark has averaged $66 per barrel this year as opposed to $69 per barrel last year. The company continues to diversify by growing its downstream sector as well as become more integrated.

Yet, the big questions concerning the strength of the company as a possible investment for outsiders remains unaddressed. Specifically, potential investors need to understand Aramco’s relationship with the Saudi government. This was only addressed at one point during the call when an analyst asked about Aramco’s dividend. According to figures provided by Aramco, the company paid $26.4 billion to its shareholder in “Ordinary Dividends” in H1 2019. This was almost identical to the amount paid in H1 2018. However, Aramco paid another $20 billion to Saudi Arabia in “Special Dividends.” This reflects an increase of $14 billion over last year’s H1 dividend.

In answering the question, Aramco’s CFO, Khalid al-Dabbagh, explained that Aramco’s executives and board of directors policy regarding the Ordinary Dividend is based on three criteria: sustainability, affordability and a benchmark. According to al-Dabbagh, such a high dividend in 2019 was possible despite lower profits because Aramco made more than anticipated in 2018. However, he did not address the fact that this incomparably high dividend is given because it is needed to satisfy a significant part of Saudi Arabia’s budget. Saudi Arabia, as a country, could not survive without this dividend and its royal family could not prosper.

Even more important are the implications of this dividend should Aramco go public. For example, will this type of dividend be available to the holders of publicly traded shares or will the Saudi government be the only recipient of “Special Dividends” or even the “Ordinary Dividends” from Aramco? If Aramco makes its lucrative dividend available to shareholders other than the Saudi government, then Aramco shares could prove highly valuable. On the other hand, if Aramco continues to fund the Saudi government through a dividend that is unavailable to other shareholders, then the public could very well find Aramco shares a highly unattractive prospect.
